Fixture Congestion
Culminating with the Everton game a few weeks ago, we played Sunday, Tuesday, Friday, the only club to do so that week.

On Sunday 31st Jan we play Liverpool at home and then on the Tuesday it's Villa away. There should be no reason that game can't be played on the Wednesday and I hope the club has kicked off about it. We all know what certain managers would say if it were them...

True Ernie, and Villa play on the Saturday so we seem to have been a bit screwed on this one.

Are Villa going to get a team together at all?

They always say it’s better to be playing games then training, so just a gentle work out and then give it all in the games, simple.

Ernie... Palace have 8 days off because they got knocked out of the cup!!! Would you prefer to be in their position or ours?

When villa play us, someone highlighted last week, it will be their 5th game in 13days.

But why we can’t play villa on the Wednesday?

Re: Fixture Congestion
Winning games is a lot less tiring than losing them.

I know this from personal experience, and also know that it works for professional footballers, from the wise words of Martin Peters, to the papers, at some point when West Ham were doing well.

Just keep winning...

If that’s right then playing them on the Tuesday instead of the Wednesday will be better for us , surely?

Joyo nope its 8 days as not playing this midweek unlike everyone else would have been 5 days as out cup not 8

Re: Fixture Congestion
I do think that managers moan too much BUT 2 days is a fast turnaround and Villa are getting three which is a significant advantage. Neither of us are playing again until the following Saturday, so why is this not on the Wednesday?

Re: Fixture Congestion
So we'll get a break later in the season when others won't. We all play the same number of games from the first day to the last. Moaning cunt.

Isn't it better for us AND Them if we play Wednesday? - Common sense should prevail here.

This subject gets raised every time the 3rd round of the FA Cup kicks in.

It's almost as if the regular annual appearance of matches in the world's oldest cup competition comes as a surprise every single year.

Re: Fixture Congestion
Tiny margins do matter at such an elite level. Yes, we beat Everton but with more rest, we may have hammered them, improved our GD.
